Publisher's summary

“We'll protect him.”

“I don’t want to be the poster boy.”

Hockey player Kevin Shaw, fresh out of university, just signed onto a Toronto team for a year. He knows he isn't innately gifted, but he works damn hard to make up for it. The last thing he needs during his first season of pro hockey is a distraction...but he can't say no when he's asked to train with a sexy friend of a friend. He wants to get better, grab a spot on the third or fourth line, and not let slip any hint of attraction to his new buddy.

“If they see, they see.”

Called up from the minor league to the major league at the end of last season, hockey player Matty O'Brien is secretly terrified he won't hack it. He's quick on his feet on the ice, and he loves living with his buddies and his dog after practice ends. One thing's missing: a relationship. He plays center forward, but he's always the wingman and never the center of attention. The way Kevin watches him makes him feel like the star player.

“He's just jealous of what you and I have.”

A spontaneous kiss sends them both scurrying for shelter, deciding whether they have room in their life for more than friendship. Just as they start to get comfortable, before they can decide what they are, someone finds out their secret. Locker room gossip is annoying for Matty but fatal for Kevin's career if the guys on the team don't shut it down.

Will Kevin gain the maturity and strength to stand up for himself without plunging deep into the closet or risking his career all over again? And can they trust their friends to hold their secrets close?

Love and Hockey!

This is the first book in this series that isn't actually about one of the Riley Brothers but the MCs are both friends of Cam's so there is a tie there. Kevin and Matty are extremely cute in their interactions with one another and their journey to a relationship is sort of slow because they aren't sure how to handle their careers. The story is very sweet with very little angst making it an enjoyable listen for an easy afternoon. I really enjoyed the story of these two getting to know each other, hanging out, and letting the relationship grow. Matty's friends are awesome with how they handle everything and it was very heartwarming to see them so ready to defend Kevin and include him as if he had always been a part of their inner circle. It was awesome getting to hear from the Riley brothers as well and I loved the ending! There was never any doubt that Michael Pauley would do an excellent job with the narration so no surprise there.

I love Matty and Kevin!

I have very much enjoyed this entire series, and this book is no exception! Kevin and Matty are fun to hear about and see come together. As always the characters from previous books make an appearance but only minor ones this time.

Amazing!

Another great add to the series. Kevin and Matty is just another story to love, hot hockey players are a must. These two are adorable and sweet with each other which pulled me in. I love this type of feel good story, seeing two people grow closer together. Narration by Michael Pauley once again is incredible and flow well with these two bringing them to live. Can't wait for the next.

So sweet

I loved getting to know more about Kevin and Matty. They are such an adorable couple and so much fun. I love the chemistry and the passion between them, both on and off the ice. They both have to navigate through the demands of being professional hockey players and the constraints that comes with that distinction. They want to be open but at the same time are unsure if they want to be the poster boys for the gay side of the league. It’s a delicate tightrope to walk but together they can make it through. I love the support that they have from their team mates and friends no matter what they decide to do. I thought that the narrator did an amazing job with this story and the characters in it.

great addition to series

This is book 5 in the Riley Brothers series and we are getting Maddie and Kevin's story. Maddie was Cam's friend from Book 1 and Kevin is a friend from the local hockey team. This is a great book and Michael's narration is always top notch!! I love this author's books about love and found families. Always a good idea to check one of his books out!
